2016-17 Rule Highlights

Timing:

  • Games will always start at time scheduled, never earlier, and later only if the previous game is running late, absolutely no running clock
  • 5 minute pre-game warm-up (minimum) 
  • 8 minute quarters for all grade levels (with stopping clock)
  • 2 minute half-time
  • 1 minute between quarters
  • 3 (60 second time outs) per game
  • 2 (30 second time outs) per game
  • 1 (60 second time out) per overtime period  (no carry-overs)
  • Three point shot counted if three-point line (arc) is present
  • Overtime:  3 minutes (Continue with overtime periods until tie is broken) – no game will end in a tie
  • “Forfeit” of a Game – will be 10 minutes after the scheduled game time (final score will be 15 – 0)
 

For Your Information:

  • High School Federation Rules will be in effect, with the exception of the following:
  • Technical Foul Rule: Any technical foul awards automatic two points to the opposing team and possession of the ball out of bounds
  • Intentional Foul: Any intentional foul awards automatic two points to the opposing team and possession of the ball out of bounds
  • Flagrant Foul:  Any flagrant foul awards automatic two points to the opposing team and possession of the ball out of bounds, and further the immediate ejection of the offender
  • Press Rule: Any team with a score advantage of 15 points is required to pull off the full court press.  After one warning from the official, if the press is not discontinued, the officials will award a technical foul to the coach’s bench

 

If a team forfeits a scheduled league game, that team shall not be eligible for the championship bracket

Once schedules are provided to the coaches the schedule is set, game time switches will not be allowed

No player will be allowed to switch teams once he or she has been rostered on a team for the current league season

A player may only be rostered on one team whether it is the Spokane AAU League or a Spokane AAU sponsored tournament

 

Ball Size:

Girls Grades 4 through 8:     28.5 (intermediate size)

Boys Grades 4 through 6:     28.5 (intermediate size)

Boys Grades 7 and 8:               30.0 (full size)

Grades 6, 7 and 8:

Girls:     30-second shot clock (if available)

Boys:     35-second shot clock (if available)
