2011-2012 Game Rule Highlights
Timing:
Games will always start at the time schedules, never earlier, and later only if the previous game it running later.
High School Federation rules will be in effect, with the exception of the following:
Any technical foul awards automatic two points to the opposing team and possession of the ball out of bounds.
Any team with a score advantage of 15 points is required to pull off the full court press. After one warning from the official, if the press is not discontinued, the officials will award a technical foul to the coach's bench.
For all fourth grade league and tournament teams (boys and girls): there will be no full-court presses, no zone defenses, and no half-court high traps. It is the responsibility of each coach to follow these rules. The officials will recieve training on these new policies and will implement the appropriate calls if a violation occurs. This means that the coaches will teach their teams man-to-man defensive skills, and will assist each player in developing good shooting habits. A player can still challenge an inbound pass, switch on defenses, steal the ball and use all other defensive tactics. The new policy will not lessen the competitiveness of the game, it is meant to enhance each player's skills.
Will be responsible for the 'Possession Arrow' either electronically on the score clock or manually with the use of the 'Yellow Arrow' provided in the Blue Box.
